Tour Overview
Richly endowed with some of the most alluring and exotic attractions in all of Africa, Tanzania stands at the forefront of wildlife safaris and adventure exploration. With imposing Mount Kilimanjaro tempting intrepid travellers to summit its icy peaks to sunworshippers flocking to Zanzibar’s lazy palm fringed island and undoubtedly the greatest phenomenon of animal behaviour, the great migration of zebra and wildebeest trampling the golden plains of the great Serengeti National Park, are just a few of Tanzania’s greatest treasures.
Jump in the deep end in Kenya’s capital city, Nairobi and be surprisingly delighted with its varied urban café cultures and pulsating nightlife. Peruse the bustling markets of Kisumu and Musoma and travel to the papyrus fringed shores of Lake Victoria spotting feisty hippos and roan antelope to smiling locals and charming fishing villages. Walk on the epic amber plains of the Serengeti National Park and track Africa’s Big Five: Rhino, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo and Lion. Descend into the world’s largest caldera, the Ngorogoro crater, home to the highest concentration of wildlife mixed with graceful Masai herders and their token cattle. Traverse Olduvai Gorge, home to our earliest ancestors. Enjoy a locally brewed beer, traditional dancing and a cultural infusion at Mto Wa Mbu village, then head off to explore the scenic backdrop of Mount Meru drifting over the lively town of Arusha. Acquire a taste for the exotic east and let the bustling yet picturesque city of Stonetown infuse your senses with its Africa, Arabic, Indian and Swahili influences. Get lost in the historic cobbled mazes and haggle with local spice vendors before spending sun kissed days on Zanzibar’s tropical north coast. Discover a world full of colourful diversity, adventure and authentic African moments on this unique tour throughout northern Tanzania and Zanzibar.

Lake Eyasi (Mang´ ola) |
| |
Leaving the National Park we drive towards the remote Southern border of the Ngorongoro crater along a dirt road to the settlement of Mang’ola near Lake Eyasi. The lake is home to Tanzania’s only remaining tribe of true hunter-gathers, the Hadzane. Similar to the Khosian family of Southern Africa, the Hadza language is infused with click based tongues and hand signals. Their nomadic lifestyle requires rudimentary encampments of grass shelters, assembled in hours as they follow game migrations and weather patterns. Hunting with poison arrows from mice to baboons is predominately a male activity whilst woman and children collect roots, seeds and make animal coats decorated in intricate beaded designs. Here we spend the afternoon, socializing and interacting with this enduring group of people and learning their unique way of life, living off the land. A very rare and memorable experience for all travellers. |
