Day 1

Destination Cape Town
  Upon arrival in the mother city, you will be met at Cape Town International Airport and transferred to the starting point of your Southern African adventure. This evening we meet at the hotel for an important pre tour briefing, where you will be introduced to your guides and other fellow travellers and to ask any questions you might have.

Day 2

Destination Cape Town
  After breakfast we embark on a tour of the Cape Peninsula, we explore the Cape Point Nature Reserve on foot, peruse the village markets of Simonstown and laugh at the playful antics of the Boulder´ s Beach penguins with lunch at a sea side restaurant. We spend the remainder of the afternoon relaxing amidst the fragrant flora and fauna of the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

Day 3

Destination Cederberg Mountains
  Leaving the windy Cape behind, we drive through the wide open spaces of Swartland to the mountainous terrain of the Cederberg region. Here we nestle down for the night in between green valleys and tangy citrus farm lands. In the afternoon we hike up the Sevilla Trail and view Bushman (San) rock art paintings. We end the day off by tasting some of the Cederberg´ s most celebrated wines at the local wine estate. Catch the wild desert flowers bloom across rolling hills during early spring for a surprising visual treat.

Day 4

Destination Fish River Canyon
  We embark for the first border crossing of the trip into the vast desert landscapes of rustic Namibia and head towards the awe inspiring Fish River Canyon, one of the most staggering sights in Africa. Approximately 161km long, 27 km wide and boasting its deepest point at 550m, it is thought to be second in size to the Grand Canyon in Arizona, United States of America. We unwind in the steamy natural pools of the Ai- Ais hot springs below the towering peaks of the southern end of the canyon and watch the golden sun lose its daily battle with the encroaching night over the panoramic vistas and unusual rock formations of the gorge.

Destination Fish River Canyon

Day 6

Destination Namib Desert
  Heading deeper into the Northern region, we travel to Africa´ s largest National Park, the Namib Naukluft and traverse the red sands of the legendary Namib Desert. Here we find the highest sand dunes in the world and many endemic species in what is thought to be the planets oldest desert, over 130 million years.

Day 7

Destination Namib Desert
  Waking up early, we travel to the ruby dune fields of the Sossusvlei for a guided desert walk, while absorbing enlightening information from a resident professional regarding the surprising collection of creatures that survive in the hyper arid region such as snakes, hyenas, gemsbok and unusual insects. We stop to explore the geological wonders of the Sesriem Canyon where, you are treated to a view of epic natural beauty as fiery red dunescapes cascade below a horizon line which spans for miles and contrasts against the electric blue of the sky.

Day 8

Destination Swakopmund
  On route back to civilization, we stop at Walvis Bay on the Namibian Coast for a scenic picnic lunch and search for Pink flamingos, Southern Wright and Humpback Whales (depending on the season). Upon arrival in the delightful Bavarian style town situated snugly between sea and desert, we head to one of the local adventure centres, where you will be shown a presentation on the various optional activities available.

Day 9

Destination Swakopmund
  Today is a day of leisure and exploration in the Adventure capital of Namibia. Some of the most popular optional activities are quad biking, sand boarding, sky diving and dolphin cruising. Day 10

Destination Omaruru
  We arrive at the quaint town of Omaruru and find ourselves sipping on Colombard and Ruby Cabernet wine at the Kristall Kellerei Winery Estate followed by an afternoon walk in the shifting colours of the scenic Erongo Mountains.

Day 11

Destination Otjiwarongo
  We continue our expedition to the “Place Where Fat Cattle Graze,” or “Pleasant Place” known to most as Otjiwarongo, a rich farming and ranching area. We follow where dinosaurs once walked and visit the site of several three-toed footprints en route to Okonjima. Here we spend the afternoon at the Africat Foundation, a successful cheetah and leopard rehabilitation centre dedicated to ensuring the long-term survival of the cheetah through research, conservation and education.

Day 12

Destination Etosha National Park
  We venture into the land known as the “place of mirages, land of dry water and great white place”. Namibia´ s premiere National Park, Etosha. During an afternoon game drive we have the chance to glimpse some of the incredible 114 mammal species, 340 bird species and many more creatures this vast park protects and homes. We return to our lodge and have an early night, ready for a full day game viewing in the morning.

Day 13

Destination Etosha National Park
  An early morning start allows us a game drive throughout the expansive park en route to Namutoni, seeking shade in the mid-day sun for a short siesta after lunch. Etosha is an ecological sanctuary amid the unforgiving desert and we hope to find some of its iconic residents, such as elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo, blue wildebeest, zebra, springbok, impala, kudu and even black rhino or the elusive spotted leopard. No doubt we will return to our lodge feeling satisfied and ultimately touched by the true African wildlife experience.

Day 14

Destination Grootfontein
  We continue our journey heading north just passing the quaint town of Grootfontein and arriving at the laid back and rustically charming Roys Camp. From this charismatic base camp, a number of activities are available for travellers, from unguided walking trails, a farm and game drive to bird and game watching. In the evening you can unwind and sample the delightful “Boere Kos” Afrikaans farm style cooking on offer at the lodge.

Day 15

Destination Grootfontein
  Today we embark on a guided bushman excursion into the Ju´ hoansi San Village known as a “living museum’ where one can learn about the traditional culture, unique tracking and hunting skills. You can try picking up a few words of their distinctive click-based language, meet a traditional healer and taste some local food

Day 16

Destination Okavango Delta
  Leaving the mighty dunes of the desert behind us, we travel north through the lush Caprivi area of Botswana to Sepupa, where we find ourselves amongst rich vegetation and winding waterways abundant with wildlife and bird species. We make our way to our houseboats via a water transfer and spend the evening relaxing, fishing or watching the nocturnal animals of the delta come alive from the decks of our houseboats.

Day 17

Destination Okavango Delta
  Today we explore the papyrus waterways on makoros(dugout canoes made from sausage trees), poled gently by local guides. We negotiate the swamp paths through the delta during a guided game walk, a haven for wildlife and birds and watch the pristine water world pass by on an afternoon river cruise.

Destination The Kwando River
  We return to Sepupa and continue our adventure to the scenic banks of the Kwando River, a lesser known gem in Southern Africa´ s crown, known for its herds of dusty elephants, formidable river crocodiles, impressive array of birdlife and crafty hippos.

Day 19

Destination Chobe National Park
  Rising early for a morning game drive in Mudumu National Park, we track various wildlife species and search for the rare red lechwe antelope; we hit the road and travel to the gateway of Chobe National Park, Kasane. Here lies the very confluence of both the Chobe and mighty Zambezi River. We enjoy a relaxed river cruise in the afternoon to wind down.

Day 20

Destination Victoria Falls

Upon arrival we visit the local adventure centre, to give us an overview of optional activities available. Is it worthwhile to arrive a few days earlier to explore Cape Town?

Cape Town is a great city and well worth spending some more time in. You can keep yourself busy with some optional activities or just going sightseeing.


Should I pre-book the Swakopmund and Victoria Falls optional activities?

You can easily arrange these activities once on tour, however we will be happy to place any advance bookings for you. Please do enquire at time of booking the tour.


How much money will I need for meals and excursions?

An average lunch in South Africa and Namibia costs between ZAR80 & ZAR120, dinner is from ZAR150 upwards and soft drinks roughly ZAR10 each and beers about ZAR20. The average price for optional activities is from ZAR150 to ZAR500. Guided tours and adrenalin/adventure activities cost from ZAR500 per person upwards. In Botswana meals start from BWP75 to BWP110, softdrinks about BWP10 and beers BWP15. In Zimbabwe meals cost from USD20 and softdrinks and beers about USD4.
